Mark Gonzales

Mark Gonzales is commonly referred to as the godfather of street skateboarding, and was named the “Most Influential Skateboarder of All Time" by the Transworld Skateboarding magazine in 2011.

Project Summary

We teamed up with Mark, Shopify, and Excel Management to launch Mark his own personal website, produce a creative video to promote the launch, and auction off the most meaningful memorabilia from Mark's 30+ year skateboard career.

Deliverables

New Online Experience: We built a store with intentional minimalism, while providing the ability for Mark and the team to auction off unique memorabilia from Mark's 30+ year skate career. 

Video Production: We teamed up with North of Now Studios to write a video treatment and design a set that resembled the inside of Mark’s mind. Mark travels into his own mind and is met with memories, old friends, and special items from his past. We filmed the video segment in Los Angeles with the help of Mark’s friends and very special guests, Spike Jonze and Jason Schwartzman.

Go-To-Market Strategy: We planned the launch of the new website by pairing it with a historic auction on the site, along with a premiere of the video piece. We secured an interview between Mark and Hypebeast to go live the day of the auction, and shared content with influential brands, professional skateboarders, and artists in Mark's network to re-share the video and drive hype around the  auction.
